RVG looks forward to Comoros game: ‘Must win for Malawi’

Malawi national football team coach Ronny Van Geneugden is looking forward to the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Comoros on June 10 at Bingu National Stadium in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe.

RVG: Comoros game is a must win

RVG, as he is fondly called in the media,  said the game would important for obvious reasons having gone three matches without a win.

He disclosed that the team did perform as expected in the 1-0 home loss to Madagascar in the Championship of Nations Cup to bow out in the preliminar round on 2-0 aggregate loss.

“I am really looking forward to that game. The expectation from home fans was very big which we didn’t show,” said the soft spoken media friendly Belgian coach.

“The performance in the game against Comoros is important. I want to play a passing game and win that is my target.”

During the announcement of the squad named for the game he said players were excited to be called up to the national team.

The call up ommitted Bullets striker Muhammad Sulumba, defender Lucky Malata, goalkeeper Brighton Munthali, captain Dave Banda, Ishmael Thindwa.

His 26-man squad comprises nine foreign based professionals, goalkeepers Charles Swine and Frank Banda from HBC Songo, Christopher John Banda of Ferroviario de Nampula, Richard Mbulu of Costa do Sol (Mozambique), with goalkeeper Owen Chaima of Mbeya City Council FC. @ Bibo, you are spot on ! Actually, this mzungu is already fake. Too much talk which he is failing to translate. Nanga Comoros yomweyi mpakana kupanga overhaul squad? Really mwanja wa china Banda ndi Chaima atithandiza chani? Do we still need donations za magalasi kuti aziona to spot the Thuso Paipis and the Mkwates of this world?

RVG— Watola team yolakwika aise; amzako anayesera koma zinawakanika

The big problem in Malawian football is government itself, they don’t put the team on budget forgetting that football is to do with money….

You will see FAM management forcing themselves to put on Bushiri’s golf shirts simply to tag him into any pending match funds..
