Sabadia arrested: City Motors boss accused of crocodiles abuse

Businessman and proprietor of City Motors Limited, Ishmael Sabadia has been arrested for absconding court bail in a case he is accused of being cruel to crocodiles, Malawi Police have confirmed.

Sabadia was granted bail by Zomba Magistrates in a case the Department of National Parks and Wildlife is accusing him of being cruel to animals after he neglected to take proper care of crocodiles at his farm in Monkey Bay.

Blantyre police told Nyasa Times they arrested Sabadia on Friday afternoon after he failed to report for bail.

He is currently answering to “cruelty to animals” charge which is contrary to Section 66 of the Wildlife Act.

“We were acting on orders from Zomba that he has absconded bail and should be arrested. He was supposed to appear before court and chose not to,” disclosed one of the officers who effected the arresting.

Sabadia was dragged to court by Wildlife officials for failing to take care of crocodiles he rears for commercial purposes at his farm.

It is reported that the successful businessman abandoned the wild animals by not protecting and giving them food, and were left terrorising communities in Monkey Bay.
