Saint bounces back with ‘Delilah’

As one way of telling different stories through music, one of the country’s top sing jays Saint has bounced with a new track titled ‘Delilah’.

In the song, Saint as the persona tell a story of being in love with his girlfriend Delilah but expresses his fears to her over the unforeseen future of their relationship. This is in regard to the complicated challenges dogging most relationships in modern generation.

The story in the music is an analogy and allusion to the famous biblical love story of Samson and Delilah, a story which ended in in betrayal and tragedy.

Saint tries to link his fears of love to this story and contextualize it into contemporary relationship challenges.

Speaking in an interview  Saint – real name Yamikani Chikwawe – said from his childhood, he had enjoyed reading the story of Samson and Delilah and he was eager to put the message of the story into a song.

“I like the story of Samson and Delilah and I was curious to use the story as a concept for the song. I started composing it on my guitar and I took the melody to the studio where it was worked out” Chikwawe said.

He explained that the recording of the song started at ‘Nde Ifeyo’ studios but because of some contractual problems between the producer and management of the studio, the project was stopped.

Saint, bemoaned the delay in releasingthe track as the only notable challenge the project faced.

“I wanted ‘Delilah’ to be a hit single in 2016 but due to some circumstances it got released in April 2017.

“However it was leaked by some radio DJs before it was released it. I tried to talk to them but nothing changed and this forced me to release a video for the song first before the audio one,” said the ‘apita akazanga’ hit maker.
