This is an annual science event since 2009 and this year Science teachers will be celebrating 10 years since its inception. It is funded by the National Information for Science and Technology, Rab Processors, Press Trust, Airtel and Anglia Book Distributors.

Memmbers of the organizing committee comprising Kamuzu Academy Science teachers and officials from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, are this week in all the education divisions sensitizing teachers about this year’s fair.

Speaking to Nyasa Times after his attendance at Katoto Secondary School in Mzuzu, Noel Mhone, a Science teacher at Chibavi Community Day Secondary School, said all Science projects that have been participating since 2009 will be showcased at this year’s fair but will not be part of this year’s competition.

“The outcry by the organizing team is that so many schools attend sensitization meetings but few participate. It is expected that sixty schools will take part this year and teachers have been asked to encourage girl students to take part in the Science projects,” explained Mhone.

As someone who has been to the annual fairs on a number of occasions, Mhone advised fellow  Science teachers to come up with simple projects and not to fear losing the competition because while there even if their project does not win, they learn a lot and become innovative on how to devise a winning project.
