Sex abuse of 6 girls: Man changes plea from guilty to not guilty

A Balaka based 42 year old Richard Mandala Chisale who was arrested few weeks ago for abducting and defiling six girls concurrently appeared before the Balaka Magistrate Court and has pleaded not guilty.

Appearing before Magistrate Damson Banda, Mandala Chisale first pleaded guilty to the offenses before reversing his decision during the proceedings.

However, the case failed to proceed awaiting the state to parade witnesses against the suspect.

First grade magistrate Damson Banda adjourned the case until June 25 to allow the state bring witnesses to testify against Richard Mandala Chisale.

Mandala Chisale was arrested last week for allegedly abducting and defiling six girls aged below 16 years.

The court however ordered that Mr. Richard Mandala Chisale who comes from Kandengwe village, Senior Chief Nsamala in Balaka district to remain under police custody.

Balaka police spokesperson sub inspector Joseph Sauka says the suspect Richard Mandala Chisale abducted the girls who are aged between 12 and 15 three months ago and has been defiling them ever since.

Sauka says the issue came to light after the parents of one of the victims reported the missing of her 12-year old daughter who was in Standard 7 at a certain School within Balaka Township.
