A 22 year old girl in the sex trade identified as Mercy Makolija suffered multiple injuries on her body after she was thrown out of a moving car in Nchalo, Chikwawa district.

The sex worker a on the day (11th October, 2015) was putting up at one of the rest house in Nchalo and met her client who asked to ‘pay-as-you-go sex’ at a fee of K10, 000 which they agreed

“He took me into his car and he parked it at Nchalo near bank premises where he had sex with me without condom,” she said.

She however said the man refused to pay for the sex services thereafter and when they argued over the payment, the man forcibly pushed her out of his moving car on a tarmac M1 Chikwawa to Nsanje road around Nchalo area.

She is said to have fainted and after regaining her consciousness she went to Nchalo police to report.

“I went to the hospital and they treated me well,” she added.

Police arrested a suspect Zakif Issa but released him on bail.

The case was then brought to Chikwawa Magistrate court and First Grade Magistrate Gradston Chilundu it to October 28, 2015 as Isaa asked to be given chance to get legal representation,

On his part, Chikwawa Officer In charge, Assistant Commissioner, Macmillan Nyirongo said police officers needed to handle cases with professionalism adding such incidents need to carefully and critically be looked into before bringing in conclusions which would be unnecessary at the end.

Assistant Commissioner Nyirongo said police officers at Nchalo were suppressing the matter to shield the suspect.

“After seeing that officers there were suppressing the case, I decided and asked for the case to be transferred to Chikwawa boma,” said Nyirongo.

The victim hails from Namitambo in Chiradzulu whist Issa aged 40 is a business man at Nchalo and hails from Sekeni village, Traditional Authority Lundu in Chikwawa district.

It is by choice and those plying it must not be scorned nor trodden upon.Mr Issa has committed two very serious offenses i) refusing to pay for services rendered and ii) assault and causing serious body injuries.
