Silver executive committee dissolved: Tseka is new chair
Silver Strikers executive committee which was led by Oscar Mabulekesi has been dissolved, Nyasa Times can reveal.
According to a statement released on Thursday and in possession of Nyasa Times, this follows a board meeting held on Tuesday.
“At a meeting of the board of Directors of Silver Strikers Football Club convened the 19th day of April, 2016 at the Reserve Bank of Malawi Head Office, the board in exercise of its powers under the club’s article of Association resolved to forthwith dissolve the current club executive committee” reads the statement in part signed by Chikumbutso Kalilombe, Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson for the Board
Only Vice Chairman Goodall Chinjoka has survived the chop.
The board has appointed Head of Risk Management at Reserve Bank of Malawi, Ralph Tseka as the new Chairman.
Patrick Mbiriyakula has taken over from Fred Kalonga on the position of treasurer with Andrew Mpakule as his vice.
Assed Mgomba, Lawrence Yobe and Innocent Kadam’manja (Liason in Blantyre) are among the executive committee members.
“The board further appointed Thabo Chakaka-Nyirenda secretary to the board, to serve as general secretary on interim capacity until such a time when a new general secretary shall be identified and approved” reads part of the statement.
The change follows reports that the executive committee has misappropriated funds amounting K54 million which was part of the 2016-17 sponsorship package.
It is alleged that the money was used to buy players, paying for players signing on fees and paying for previous season’s debts.
