Silver have turned the corner, pips Cobbe

Silver Strikers on Saturday roasted Cobbe Barracks 4-0 in a one sided encounter at Silver Stadium in the elite TNM Super League and maintains the top slot.

The Bankers seem to have turned their corner since they fired coach Daniel Dzinkambani and his backroom staff, replacing them with a care-taker committee of players Hellings Mwakasugula and Itaye Nundwe.

Asedi Ayami led  Silver in torturing the Zomba based Soldiers by netting a brace while Peter ‘Pido’ Pindani and Harvey Nkacha scored one a piece.

Silver back to wining ways

The Bankers, who have 38 points from 23 games are being chased closely by Escom United, who beat Red Lions 2-0 in an explosive encounter in Zomba.

The Electricians, who have 38 points having played  24 games have a daunting task on December 18 as they face much improved Blantyre United  at Kamuzu Stadium.

In another match in Dwangwa, visiting Epac United was on a serious business in the cane field of Dwangwa as they taunted Mafco Fc 3-0.

The Lilongwe based out-fit netted their scores through Jafali Chande, Rodrick Douglas and Alex Nkhwazi.

Epac’s victory has moved them to the third position on the log table with 36 points from 24 games.

Meanwhile, the log table is as follows, with the Bankers leading the race on position one with 38 points from 23 games seconded by Escom United with the same number of points only goal difference separating the two sides.

On third slot is Epac FC also popuraly known as “Njenjete zamu Lilongwe” with 36 points from 24 games as Blantyre United also known as “Mphembedzu zamu Blantyre” coming fourth with 35 points having played 20 games.

Civo United, who were on bye over the past two weeks are on fifth place with 33 points from 18 games in a rat-cat chase with Mighty Wanderers, who have the same number of points only that the Lali-Lubani boys have played 20 games.

The Salima based out-fit, Mafco FC, who kicked off the league on a high note are now feeling the going tough as  they occupy position seventh with 33 points from 24 games as Big Bullets is on their back with 32 points from 23 games.

The People’s teams have recently improved beaten Moyale Barracks and Cobbe Barracks last week.

The old capital city soldiers, Red Lions are on position nine with 30 points from 22 games followed by another military side from the evergreen city Moyale Barracks with 28 points from 19 games.

Azam Tigers, who off late have lost their back to back victories are basking on position eleven with 28 points from 20 games in  a highly contested chase with the cops from Area 30 Blue Eagles who have 28 points as well but goal aggregate differentiating the two out-fits.

However, the three teams sitting on the knife edge of the relegation zone are Cobbe Barracks, Zomba United and Embangweni United.
