However, big casualty were the cops, Blue Eagles who lost to fellow super league side and Salima based soldiers, Mafco at Nankhaka stadium.

Silver Strikers, also known as The Bankers, sailed through to the quarterfinal berth after whipping rookies O.P F.C 9-0 at Silver stadium on Saturday while Kamuzu Barracks whacked lower league side Ndirande Icon 4-1 at Kamuzu stadium on Friday.

The Bankers scored through Ndaziona Chatsalira (1), Victor Limbani (2), Green Harawa (4), Rodrick Gonani (1) and , Chimwemwe Chisambi (1).

At Nankhaka stadium, Blue Eagles gave their home fans false hope when they scored first in the early minutes of the match through enterprising midfielder Christopher John Banda, but the visitors fought back and equalized through forward Kalisto Kalinda.

After regulation time, the match went straight into penalty shoots out after which Mafco won 3-1.

The round of 16 will be completed next weekend and the winners will also proceed to the quarterfinals.

Be Forward Wanderers will travel to the north where they will battle it out with rookies Chilumba Barracks, lower league side Silver Reserves will descend to the south to rock horns with The People’s team, Bullets FC and Red Lions will host their brothers in arms, Moyale Barracks.

Support Battalion will be up against Civo United while Azam Tigers will face Dedza Young Soccer Stars.
