Silver Ladies finish 4th in CAF Women’s Champions
Silver Strikers Ladies saw their historic Caf Women’s Champions League/Cosafa Qualifier debut end in heartbreak after a bruising 4–0 defeat to hosts Gaborone United Ladies in Botswana.

The Malawian side, who stunned the region by reaching the semi‑finals in their first appearance, were outgunned in the third‑place playoff as Gaborone struck early and never let go.
Jessica Maponga opened the scoring before Modise added more damage, with the Video Assistant Referee confirming one of the goals after a tense review.
Despite the heavy scoreline, Silver Ladies fought to stay in the contest, but Gaborone’s pace and precision proved too much.
Head coach Patricio Kulemeka praised his squad for making history, insisting the team’s run showed Malawi women’s football is ready to compete on the continental stage.
Silver Strikers Ladies now return home with a fourth‑place finish — and the distinction of being the first Malawian women’s team ever to reach the tournament’s semi‑finals, a milestone that has electrified supporters and raised expectations for future campaigns.
