Silver still in contention for TNM title- Mwakasungura
Caretaker assistant coach for Silver Striker, Hellings Mwakasungura, says his side has a good chance of winning the TNM Super League after they piled up pressure on log leaders Escom united after a convincing 2-1 win over their city rivals, Civo United in a Lilongwe derby on Saturday 24th December.
On Friday, the electricians had gone six points clear on log table after trouncing Embangweni United by 2 goals to nil.
Mwakasungula declined to give up too early on their hopes of winning the title, and vowed to put pressure on log leaders.
“Giving up on returning the title? No, this is football we can’t give up, a team of Silver fight up to the wire. We are very positive we can win it,” he told Nyasa Times.
“Football is full of surprises, who would believe that Mighty Wanderers after playing so well against Bullets FC could be beaten by (As am) Tigers, how about a team like Civo being beaten by Embangweni United. This is football anything can change, “he said.
Mwakasungula conceded that their team had come from a bad spell but now the team had stabilised.
“It’s true, we are coming from a bad spell but God has helped us. And now we are on track, we have all the chances to win this league, what we want to do is to win the remaining games,” he said
Silver now have 41 points and leaders Escom has 44. The bankers however have three games in hand.
