Simba SC land in Lilongwe ahead of Wanderers showdown

Tanzanian giants Simba SC have arrived in Malawi ahead of their first-leg CAF Champions League encounter against Malawi’s 2025 elite league champions, Mighty Wanderers FC.

The Dar es Salaam-based side touched down at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe this morning, Friday September 4, 2026, as they begin preparations for what promises to be a highly anticipated continental encounter.

Simba SC have travelled with a strong squad featuring several notable players, including Zambian professional Clatous Chama. The Tanzanian giants have also brought Ibrahim Doumbia, Morice Abraham, Keletso Makgalwa Mpanzu and Libasse Gueye, among others.

The visitors will face Mighty Wanderers FC, popularly known as the Nomads, at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday, September 6, the match scheduled to kick off at 15:00 hours.

For the Nomads, the home fixture presents an important opportunity to make a strong start against one of Tanzania’s most established football clubs.

Mighty Wanderers will be hoping to use home advantage and the support of their fans to secure a positive result before the return leg.

Simba SC, meanwhile, will be aiming to put themselves in a commanding position from the first leg.

Nicknamed “The Red Lions,” the Tanzanian side will look to their experienced players as they seek an advantage in the tie.

With both teams chasing progress in Africa’s premier club competition, Sunday’s encounter is set to attract significant attention from football fans in Malawi and beyond.
