Simplex recalled by Malawi for Zimbabwe friendly

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has pressed a panic button to recall Mozambique based goalkeeper Simplex Nthala who had said he was done with the national team.

Nthala is among a list of players called up by FAM to start camping on Saturday for March 11 international friendly game against Zimbabwe at Kamuzu Stadium.

But Bullets goalkeeper Owen Chaima, who has been inconsistent at his club, was dropped for rivals Mighty Wanderers Richard Chipuwa and Silver Strikers’ Charles Swini.

FAM Competitions Officer Gomezgani Zakazaka said the association would meet the expense of the match.

“This match is been funded by the Football Association of Malawi from the PUMA replica jerseys sales,”  FAM officier Gomezani Zakazaka said in a statement.

FAM also funded two friendly matches against Rwanda and Botswana using the same business proceeds last year
as preparations for the match against Nigeria in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
