The branch acts as an anchor of the bank’s business with customers in Thyolo and Mulanje, the two Southern region districts which host tea, coffee, fruit and mountain tourism interests.

Speaking at a launch breakfast with the customers, Head of Personal and Business Banking Margaret Kubwalo-Chaika said the face-lift at Luchenza was a part of a strategic branch refurbishment exercise that Standard Bank has been undertaking to offer customers a new banking experience.

“This investment in branch infrastructure is a result of the confidence Standard Bank has in the local economy of Luchenza, that comprises commercial and smallholder tea, coffee, macademia and fruit production, retailing, donor-funded projects, the NGO and civil service sectors,”she said.

Kubwalo-Chaika thanked customers in the area for their loyalty and support to Standard Bank.

“Standard Bank does not take your loyalty and support over the years for granted. That’s why we decided to invest back in improving our capacity to serve you better,” Chaika said.

In his remarks Mayor for Luchenza Municipality Harold Kaliwo hailed Standard Bank for improving infrastructure of municipality.

“This state of art infrastructure has changed the face of Luchenza and we applaud Standard Bank for the investment,” Kaliwo said.

As part of Cooperate Social Responsibility, the bank donated K500, 000 at the nearby Chonde Health Centre maternity wing.

The bank’s recent refurbishment exercise has seen its outlets in Lilongwe, Ntcheu, Mponela, Kasungu, Mzimba and Dwangwa acquiring a new face.

Each time I travel on business I fail to refuel my car in Mchinji because there is no your ATM to say the least. I need your comment Margaret.… Read more »
