Stereo Gondwe resigns as Mafco coach: Enters Thomas Maloya
Mafco Football Club Coach Stereo Gondwe has stepped down from his position following his teams recent poor form club Chairman Major Sikaloka Kaliati has confirmed.
Mafco had a bright start in the ongoing 2015/16 K90 Million TNM Super League having registered four straight wins in their opening matches.
While confirming the development that Gondwe is no longer the in-charge of Mafco, Major Kaliati refuted rumours that the coach has been fired.
“He [Gondwe] hasn’t been fired but he has decided to take a break on his own and pave way for Maloya. There might be some reasons but losing past three consecutive games might be one of the reasons” said Kaliati.
He further revealed that the coach has had little time with the club this season since he was engaged with other issues.
Among other things, Gondwe was appointed as coach for Malawi Beach Soccer team and travelled with the team to Mauritius and thereafter he was busy with Malawi Defence Force tournaments giving him little time to concentrate on his coaching role at Mafco.
Meanwhile, Major Kaliati has confirmed that Thomas Maloya has since replaced Gondwe as caretaker coach.
