Students damage school property in Mangochi over poor diet

Students from Assalam Boys Secondary School in Mangochi mobilised themselves around 1 am and stoned the office and hostel blocks in protest against poor diet at the school. The incident happened on Monday, January 23, 2023.
According to police investigations, the students have been complaining to the school management for some time about being served with beans contaminated with weevils and that their concerns have not been addressed, which prompted them to go on hunger strike on January 21, 2023.
