Sulom plays down match fixing fears

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) General Secretary Williams Banda has urged all stakeholders in the soccer fraternity to desist from bringing in their personal interests as contention for the TNM Super
league title gets tighter.

Banda was speaking upon being asked to clarify on how his association is organizing fixtures amid speculations that their might be match fixing.

There have been growing concerns from the general public on why some have been in action while others are on break among the top five teams are hottest title contenders and stand a chance to win the
championship.

Banda ruled out match-fixing allegation and trashed the speculations since his association already came up with the full fixtures for the 2016-17 TNM Super League second round which was released in August
2016.

“First round we did not release the full fixture and people talked alot of things and upon listening to their concerns, we decided to come up with the full fixture at the beginning of the second round and
the same people are talking again what do they want?”

“We already circulated the full fixture list to all clubs and the media in August and everyone is aware that the league is expected to come to an end on 31st December,” Banda told Nyasa Times in a telephone
interview .

According to Banda, they failed to release full fixture in the first round due to national team engagements.

He said those making noise either have personal interests or they are being coaxed by a section of people.

“I think those saying we are tampering with the fixture have their own interests and hidded agendas or else they are be sent by someone” he said.

According to a second round complete fixture Sulom released and in possession of Nyasa Times, the final five games will be played on 31st December, 2016.

Coincedentally, the games include all the top five teams.

Nyasa Big Bullets will wrap up the season with an assignment against current leaders Blue Eagles, Dwanga against Kamuzu Barracks while Silver will host Mafco FC.

Mzuni FV will travel to Blantyre to face Mighty Be Forward Wanderers while Civo play host to Azam Tigers.

Meanwhile, Sulom has pleaded with all soccer loving Malawians to avoid bringing controversy into the beautiful game and always observe fair play and discipline.
