Sumbuleta to deputise Tembo at MBC, Kuntaja redeployed
Government has hired former spokesman of Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) Aubrey Sumbuleta to be deputy director general of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) where director of news Wellington Kuntaja has been removed.
Sumbuleta, who has been BBC sports correspondent, will deputise veteran broadcaster Benson Tembo. He is currently production editor for Chinese TV based in Kenya.
The national broadcaster is undergoing reforms which has seen. three key MBC staffers—director of news Wellington Kuntaja, head of programmes Halmiton Chimala and engineer Joseph Chingwa from being re-deployed.
It is believed that the redeployment of the three is politically inspired as they are deemed to be sympathisers of the previous regime.
Kuntaja is heading to the Ministry of Information and Chikagwa is going to the civil aviation department.
