Super League teams to pay K75 000 for FISD Cup

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has said Super League will pay K75, 000 in order to register for the 2017 FISD Cup challenge.

Gunda: Super League teams will register to FAM

FAM General Secretary, Alfred Gunda said this in a statement on Wednesday in Blantyre.

He said Super League teams would register directly to FAM Secretariat by filling a form and a registration fee of K 75,000.

“The District and Regional Leagues would register with Regional football association in their respective regions by filling a form and paying a registration fee of K20, 000,” Gunda stated in the statement.

He added that registration for both categories run from September 21 to 26, 2017.

The General Secretary explained that SuperLeague teams would use playersregistered with Super League of Malawi (SULOM) and would use Sulomregistration cards for identification.

He said regional teams would use players registered with the Regional Football Association and use their respective league’s registration cards for identification.

Gunda explained that districtteams would use players it registered during the   Presidential Cup but would be atliberty to beef up with any other players based in their respective districts who play for other teams in other leagues but not SuperLeague.

“FAM would produce special registration cards for the 29 teams who won the 2017 presidential cup Districtchampionship,” he disclosed.

Gunda warned that no player shall be allowed to register for two teams as per Rules and Regulations of FISD.

The cup will be played on knock out basis in the following phases.

He said the district preliminary teams would play in a regional championship in their respective regions to come up with five teamsthat would qualify for the national phase as follows: South-two, Centre-two and North-one.

Gunda pointed out that regional leagues preliminary teams would play in  regional championship in their respective regions to come up with three teams that would qualify for the national phase as follows; South-one, Centre-one and North -one

“The Super league preliminary round teams would be drawn against each other with top four teams from last season seeded. This phase will produce eight teams that would go into the national draw from round of 16all the way to the final,” the general secretary elaborated.

He outlined that,” Announcement of the forma of the Challenge cup was done on September 22, 2017, draw for the preliminary round for both regional and super was conducted on Wednesday, September 2017, At Mpira house in Blantyre,”

He said the launch for the 2017 FISD Cup would be done on Saturday,September 30, 2017 in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota.

National draw will be conducted on October 10, 2017. Super teams will battle it out on October 7-8 and 14-15, 2017, according to the way the fixture will be tableted.

Regional finals are slated for October 14 -15, 2017 and national round of 16 will be played on October 17 and 25, 2017.

Quarter final encounters are scheduled for November 4 and 5, 2017 followed by Semi finals on November 18 and 19, 2017.

The Final match is slated for Saturday December 2, 2017 at the venue to be communicated.
