Suspected killer of Malawian woman hangs himself

A  Zimbabwean man who murdered a Malawian woman Rudo Pretty Mawera and left her  in a suitcase by a roadside in Dublin, Ireland has been found hanging and has died .

Earlier Nyasa Times identified the man as Jasper Jason Dube Taruvinga.

He had fled Ireland for England on Sunday using a ferry after being suspected of killing the 26-year-old student.

Chief suspect: Found dead

Dube’s brother, Desmond was so “shocked” with the development when Nyasa Times contacted him on his mobile phone passed on by sources.

The killer hanged himself in Higham in North Kent. Kent Police has since confirmed that he was discovered in a wooded area in Higham.

He is said to have been using the bank card of the Malawian woman and apparently killed her by suffocation after a row over money.

Mawere was found fully clothed but her head was covered with a bin bag and a postmortem confirmed that she had died of asphyxiation.

Reports  also say the killer who has been using a number of different aliases — is suspected of raping a woman in the UK some time ago but he has never been charged in relation to that offence.

Meanwhile, a requiem service for Mawere was held on Wednesday in Ireland at Solid Rock Church where she used to pray. She was initially a Catholic.

Malawians who attended the service and spoke to Nyasa Times said tributes were paid to the woman who will “ always be loved and missed by his family and friends.”

“Rudo was a lovely friend,” said a flatmate.
