Blantyre based Gospel icon Thocco Katimba has announced that his fifth studio album “Bakha” (Duck) will be released next week on April 10th.

The lead single which also bears the album title “Bakha” has gone viral on social media and is currently buzzing on all local radio stations.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with  Nyasa Times, the  artist said he is also planning to launch “Bakha” either in June or July.

“The album was recorded at Active A Records and has been produced by Amos Mlolowa with Erick Palian and Collen Ali on lead guitars, Peter Likhomo and Chambota Chirwa on Bass guitars. Some of the songs in the album include Taonga, Ndakhululuka, Ulendo Wanga, Musandisiye ndekha and Mukuvutikilanji,” Katimba disclosed.

According to the self-styled artist, once released, CDs will be available in all music outlets countrywide.

“The only thing people should expect in this album is maturity and change of my music tone because for the first time, all the songs have been recorded live,” he said.

Commenting on the hit song Bakha, Katimba said, “The central message is salvation of mankind and Bakha represents those of us who go to church and present ourselves as Born-Agains yet what we do outside church is not in line with what we preach about.”

Katimba is known as a story teller who incorporates different characters and situations in his compositions.

Some of his previous hits include “Anaphi” and “Agondwe”.

“I normally come up with these stories so that I may capture the attention of the listener. So that at the end, we can easily relate to spiritual matters,” said the “Bakha” hitmaker.

Despite its availability on various social media platforms, the song is currently on sale on www.nyimbozathu.com.
