Three brothers in court for assaulting ‘cheating’ woman

The magistrates court in Blantyre on Tuesday gave bail to three brothers who were arrested for assaulting a woman named Judith Kapichi on infidelity allegations.

The three, Gift, Moses and Anderson Kukhola from Mleso village T/A Somba in Blantyre were arrested on June 26 this year a day after assaulting Kapichi on allegations that she was dating their brother in-law.

According to facts presented in court, the three together with their sister Elize (who is married to Mr. Khonda) and two other relatives attacked and assaulted Kapichi on reports that she had a secret sexual affair with Khonda.

Three are being represented by lawyer Bruno Matumbi and are expected to be back in court in seven days time after the police having concluded their investigations on the matter.

The court granted bail to the three after it was denied on Monday.

The court ordered them to produce one surety each and paid a bail bond of K2, 000 each, of which they did.

Meanwhile, Eliza and her husband as well as the two other unidentified relatives have fled the village following police intervention on the matter. They are currently at large.

The case is expected to resume once the police have apprehended the fugitives.
