Three Malawians nabbed for wounding, robbing Rwandese

The state of crime levels in Malawi’s major towns is progressively creating anxieties day in day out among Malawians as well foreigners living in the country.

The latest in a series of such crimes is the wounding and subsequent robbing of a Rwandese woman based in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe.

The woman is currently battling for her life after she was shot at when three armed robbers invaded her residence last week.

Police have identified the three suspected criminals as Binalison Bitchman, 21, Various Nkhomo 35 and 28-year-old Ismail Banda.

Lilongwe Policespokesperson Ramsey Mshani said the three suspects allegedly broke into the house of the Rwandese, Gapanyama Samaili, on the night of July 31st, 2012 where they stole assorted property.

“During the incident, the suspects stole a variety of items from the house and also seriously injured the woman and she is currently receiving treatment at the Kamuzu Central Hospital where she was admitted,” the police spokesperson said.

Bitchman comes from Mswali Village in T/A Khongoni and Nkhomo hails from Mdzazi Village, T/A Mazengera both in Lilongwe while Banda is a son of Mkaya Village in the area of Chief Tambala in Dedza District.

According to Mshani, the three will appear in court soon to answer a charge of armed robbery.
