Thugs fail to disrupt Bisnowaty rally

Unknown assailants believed to have been sent by opponents of Lilongwe City Centre Constituency independent parliamentary aspirant, David Bisnowaty, nearly disrupted the good ending of the rally which was organised with the aim of launching the campaign.

The unknown assailants were armed with stones and started pelting to one of the vehicle at the rally.  The rally took place in Area 50 railways ground in Lilongwe on Sunday.   This incident happened soon after Bisnowaty left the place.

The few assailants were overhead shouting on top of their voice asking Bisnowaty campaign team to provide money and other things.

Fortunately, the Malawi Police Service came in quickly and disperse the thugs.

The incident comes few days after two people including a policeman was killed during a fracas at a rally at Goliat in Thyolo.

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has condemned violence during campaign period.

But speaking during the rally, Bisnowaty expressed concern that the constituency is one of the least developed in the City of Lilongwe.

Bisnowaty said he has joined politics not to enrich himself but to bail out the people from poverty.

“As I am talking to you now, I have already hired a company which is fixing all the broken boreholes in the constituency,”said Bisnowaty.

Speaking during the same function, representative of Traditional Authority Chitukula commended Bisnowaty for having the passion and welfare of people at heart.
