Tiya Somba unveils 10-point plan if elected FA Malawi VP

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Vice Presidential candidate Tiya Somba Banda has announced his ten point plan to fulfil if elected, pledging transparency and accountability in the distribution FIFA funding and football materials to the affiliates.

FAM will have its annual general meeting on December 12 at Nkopola in Mangochi district.

Banda, who will battle it out with James Mwenda on this position said he has lined-up a number of programs if elected on this post like reform the structure of FAM and its statues to ensure that good governors principles are followed at all levels and give back the decision of making powers to the affiliates by ensuring that the heads of the 9 affiliates will form strategic committee at FAM responsible for charting the football path of the country.

“ I will also ensure that affiliates are financially sound by Increasing their subventions from K200 thousand to K1 million. (1% of the Financial Assistance Programme from FIFA,” said Banda.

He also said affiliates will   be event managers for games and will be getting 7% of the gross collections. (Outsourcing).

Banda, who is the current Sulom treasurer said, he will enact of the Football Hooliganism Act to curb football violence.

He said he will also make sure that there is gradual graduation from Under 12,15,17,20 to Under 23, with permanent coaches at all levels, even Participation of the under 23 in the Olympic Games.

Banda said another plan is to standard and modernized infrastructure – electronic turnstiles to be financed by FIFA Infrastructure fund.

He also said he will bring Beach Soccer to the cites away from the lakeshores.

On women’s football, he said he will introduce a national league, which will be   participated in regional international tournaments.

He also mention of re-introducing the Presidential cup, which died last year after FAM used its money to finance the Flames.

He concluded with his last plan, which is to make sure there is capacity building in football administration and management.
