The team has managed to win 10 games and drawn twice without a single loss.

On Saturday, Topic Academy worked on their twelfth first round assignment in style at Mzuzu Stadium by thrashing Young Tigers 3-1 with goals coming from Daudi Kanyika, Cassim Jeremiah and Precious Nyirenda. Smart Kayira scored Young Tigers consolation goal.

At the same venue, Mbahewe FC, who is on position 7, beat Young Buffaloes 2-1.

Nyasa Times witnessed a game between second placed Katoto United and third placed Azungu Academy which ended 2 nil in favour of Katoto United.

Katoto United’s Anthony Msiska was brought down in the 18 metre box in the 25th minute and Limbani Simenti had no problems in sending goalkeeper Chancy Mtete the wrong way.

Anthony Msiska scored Katoto United’s second goal in the second half to seal the game at 2 nil.

Speaking to Nyasa Times after the three games, Vice Chairperson of Mzuzu District Youth Football Committee, Panji Kamanga, said the league is going on so well and there is a lot of competition among the youth below the age of 20.

“As usual, Under 20 FMB League games are always violent free. As you have seen, the lads are playing excellent football. I keep on saying that the future of the Malawi Senior National Football Team is in the Under 20 League,” remarked Kamanga.

Last year’s champions, Sanwecka FC, are fourth on the log table with 25 points from 12 games while Young Tigers lie fifth with 17 points from 12 games.
