Tributes pour in for ex-Miss Malawi Faith
Malawians have been paying tribute to model and former Miss Malawi Faith Chibale who died on Friday aged 24.
Faith, who was diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB) and was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre, died at noon.
Her brother Mathews said Faith’s death was “shocking”.
“We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Faith and appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone,” his brother told Nyasa Times.
A reigning Miss Malawi from 2010 to 2011, Faith was also crowned Malawi News Model of Year for 2009.
Tadala Chihana, one of the Miss Malawi organisers, before was among many expressing their sorrow on social media, posting that she was “ very saddened “ by the passing of Faith.
Person Nkhoma said Faith “literary defined Malawi’s modeling industry. After her, Malawi is yet to find someone who can match up to the standards she set. Faith was a hard working young Malawian who knew exactly what she wanted from the industry and the corporate world. We have all tried but failed miserably to fit in her shoes. She remains an icon. ”
Faith will be remembered for her philanthropic work as a beauty queen.
She was the first Miss Malawi to receive a prize of a motor vehicle, a Nissan March, took over the crown from Ellah Kabambe.
Meanwhile, burial will take place on Saturday at her home village in Manjawira in Ntcheu.
