Two more girls arrested over leaked Malawi MSCE exams

Two Soche Hill Secondary School female students are currently being held by Police after being found in possession of leaked Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination papers.

Southern Region police spokesperson, Nicholas Gondwa confirmed, saying the arrests were made on Friday.

Gondwa said the two will appear in court on Tuesday morning.

The arrest happened just days after eight more students from six schools in Blantyre and Lilongwe were arrested within the week in relation to same leaked MSCE exams saga.

However, both government and Malawi National Examinations board (Maneb) have refused to admit the current arrests as an indication of massive 2013 MSCE examination leakage.

Meanwhile, human rights activists have called on government to investigate the examination leakage, which has created hot debate especially on social network, with many questioning the authorities’ seriousness in putting to an end the malpractice, which is slowly becoming a trend, eroding the credibility of the country’s education system.
