UDF shadow councilor in Msiliza ward pledges to empower youths

One of aspiring  councilors for Mtsiliza ward in Lilongwe, Brighton Edward Golombe, who is representing United Democratic Front (UDF) in the forthcoming by-elections said he will empower the youth if voted into office.

Golombe: UDF candidate in Msilidza ward

The UDF candidate said as a citizen of this country he has lined up a lot of activities to help empower the youths in the area as one way of minimizing the challenge of unemployment which the youths are facing in the area.

“I am going to bring change in this area because I know what the youths are lacking in the ward. We have created a lot of jobs that youths can be busy with including welding, tinsmith and carpentry among others.

“Another thing I will search for organizations that will assist with loans to start small scale businesses in the area,” Golombe said.

According to Golombe empowering the youths with different activities would help them shun wrong behaviors that could spoil their future.

“The youths are leaders of tomorrow and if they are empowered with relevant skills, we can create a better future for them, and in turn develop this country,” he said.

Among other developments that will take place in the ward are early childhood programs for easy access to education for the young ones who are under five years of age according to Golombe.

“Basically, because education is the only key to success, I would also want to empower these children with nursery school education which will help them have a better foundation as they prepare for primary school education,” he stated.

Golombe urged that the Local Development Fund (LDF) received from the city council will have to be allocated wisely for the benefit of every individual in the area regardless of their political affiliation.

The by-elections in the area on 17 October, 2017come about following the death of DPP Ward councilor, Rodney Nsona who passed on earlier this year.
