UGI, Ward Foundation supports Mzimba’s Kamteteka Health Centre

As part of ongoing efforts to improve healthcare delivery in rural communities, United General Insurance (UGI), in partnership with the Linda Ward Foundation, has donated medical equipment valued at approximately K4.5 million to Kamteteka Health Centre in Mzimba District.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, UGI Chief Executive Officer Grant Mwenechanya underscored the importance of supporting local health facilities, especially in underserved areas where resources are limited.

“Kamteteka Health Centre plays a vital role in its community, hence the movement. In total, we have donated 10 blankets, 10 beds, and two drip stands, as these are the areas the hospital needs the most. We believe in giving back to the community, and this will help the health centre continue to serve its people,” said Mwenechanya.

In his remarks, Mzimba South District Medical Officer Dr. Angelo Mwaungulu thanked UGI for the timely donation and called on other stakeholders to join efforts in improving health infrastructure across the district.

“We are so thankful for UGI’s gesture, as it has come at a good time. We also appeal to other partners to support health facilities, as most centres were built a long time ago and have gone for years without major rehabilitation. As a result, many are now in a dilapidated state,” he said.

Kamteteka Health Centre is located in Traditional Authority M’mbelwa and serves a catchment population of approximately 21,000 people.
