United Independent Party (UIP) president Abusa Helen Sigh says her party wants bring genuine change to the country and that Malawians should trust her.
She said this in Mzimba on Sunday after conducting a whistle-stop tour in the district where she paid a visit to her supporters and also officially endorsed Mapopa Zungu as a torch bearer for her party in Mzimba Solola Constituency
Addressing the people who gathered at Mzimba Secondary school ground, Sigh said it is high time the country see change and it is only her party which can bring true and meaningful change to Malawians after 50 years of independence
“God called me to venture into politics to change things after years of afflictions and poverty that all the past regimes have brought on Malawians,” she said
She said since 1964 Malawi has not seen true change because it has been recycling politicians up to date who have brought more harm than good to the people that is why she decided to contest as president in the coming tripartite elections to change the way politics is played in the country.
“We are going into government after May 20 electio,” she declared.
“People are tired of poverty and UIP represents that much-needed change,” said the presidential hopeful.
Sigh also attacked President Joyce Banda for looting of public money at Capital Hill.
