The United Kingdom has appointed Fiona Eileen Richie — Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) Development Director for Malawi (what used to be the Head of DFID Malawi) — as new British High Commissioner to Malawi.

She takes up the post from July, replacing David Beer, who took up the post in 2020, replacing Holly Tett.
In 2020, the new High Commissioner was FCDO Deputy Director responsible for the review of independent commission for donor aid impact and from 2019 to 2020, she was FCO/DFID as private secretary to the Minister of State for Africa.
With DFID, she has managed various roles in Africa including supporting development programmes in Afghanistan and Iraq as assistant private secretary to the Permanent Secretary.
