In his response to Mutharika’s State of the Nation address (Sona) in parliament, Mussa said on Monday that the President should have been open with the people of Malawi that his government is failing to perform.

“We have walked a long distance with Mutharika hoping he knew where he was taking us to but there is no light at the end of the tunnel,” said the PP leader.

He said K1.7 trillion has been passed in parliament for national budget for the last three years and that government has no excuses.

Mussa also accused Mutharika of recycling paragraphs of the last year’s SONA.

Mutharika’s speech gave updates on all sectors of the Malawi economy.

Mutharika also said that the feasibility study of the Shire-Zambezi Waterway has been completed, and the river system has been found navigable. He said that further meetings were in the pipeline to map the way forward.
