Uladi replaces Chilumpha as PP Central Province VP

Ruling People’s Party has appointed Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Uladi Mussa as new Central Province Vice President replacing Dr Cassim Chilumpha who resigned some days ago.

In a telephone interview with Nyasa Times, PP General Secretary Paul Maulidi confirmed the appointment.

“Following the vacancy which was created by Dr Chilumpha’s resignation, the party’s Management Committee met and appointment Hon Mussa with  immidiate effect,” said Maulidi.

Mussa was  defeated by Chilumpha on the same  position at the party’s convention.

Maulidi claimed Chilumpha “hasn’t been active as expected of a vice-president.”

But Political scientist Dr. Augustine Magolowondo noted that there  is “a clear indication that PP just like other parties, is failing to resolve internal conflicts.”

Chilumpha, who has served as Member of Parliament for Nkhotakota South for close to 20 years now, said he will run as an independent candidate. He also won the seat under the independent banner in  2009.
