Mphatso Nkhoma – Nyasa Times
The Peoples Party (PP) leader in Parliament Uladi Mussa had been sleeping through Thursday’s parliamentary debate on the State of the Nation address which was presented by President Peter Mutharika last Friday.
Mussa caught the attention of most members of the house as he was sleeping and made noise by snoring on the front row of the opposition benches of the 193 member house.
Ironically, Mussa was sleeping while seating close to United Democratic Front (UDF) lawmaker Lucius Banda who had taken the floor to contribute on the state of the nation address.
Mussa, who on Monday in his address responding to Mutharika speech, mocked leader of house George Chaponda for sleeping while the Head of State was delivering the speech which he called it a boring, spent the good hours in House sleeping to the extent of loosening his head back – down his chair shameless in deep in sleep – and could do with a duvet.
PP acting president woke up from a sleep after the noise which started after Lilongwe Kumachenga parliamentarian Ching’onga rose on point of order against Minister of sports, Grace Chiumia who in her response to the President’s speech never touched on sports which she heads except finishing with best wishes for the national football team as they travel to Zimbabwe for an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match.
This brought the house to laughter and some counter arguments which made Mussa, in dreamland to wake up due to the noise with other MPs from government benches seen pointing at him and mocking him for sleeping.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
