UMP Festival organizers unveils 6 festival sites: Geared for historical event at Cape Maclear
With just few days to go to the much awaited 2024 UMP Festival which is expected to bring a unique experience of entertainment with the best performances from both local and international respected artists, the official event organizers of the festival have announced that this year’s event will have six sites where people will be getting entertained with various activities of their choice.
Spokesperson of UMP Festival which will take place from October 25-28 2024 at Cape Maclear in Mangochi, Marie Thom confirmed the development to Nyasa Times that the six sites, namely, Family Site, Far Monkey, Chitoliro Site, Cape Mac Lodge, Community Site and Gekco Lounge have been set with the aim of creating a platform where artists, creatives as well as innovators can shine with their talents and also ensure that the fans are given opportunity to enjoy performance which they love most.
According to Thom, the Family Site located to Tranquilo Lodge will be a serene and welcoming space designed specifically for families and will feature kid’s activities, workshops and entertainment, ensuring a fun and engaging experience for all ages while the Family Monkeys is set to transform into a vibrant fine arts site, showcasing Malawian art, craft, and culture.
The Fat Monkeys hub will feature live performances, exhibitions and interactive installations, providing a unique opportunity for attendees to explore and appreciate local creativity.
She added that, the Chitoliro Site, will serve the festival’s central hub, as it will host the main stage performances, food and drink vendors, and a lively marketplace which will also be the heart of the festival, offering something for everyone, with performances by top urban Malawian and African artists, ensuring a dynamic celebration of contemporary culture.
The Cape Mac Lounge site is set to be a family and film site which will offer a serene and welcoming space for families with kid’s activities workshops and entertainment as well as a film screening area whereas Gecko Lounge has been designed to to offer VIP ticket holders a luxurious setting complete with premium food, drinks and VIP-only performances. The area will among other things, provide the perfect setting for those seeking a more refined festival experience.
The final area, which is the Community Site, will be located in the heart of lake of Malawi National Park, where the Matafale Stage will come alive with live performances, cultural events and community gathering.
It will be a site for tribute to the legendary Malawian reggae musician Evison Matafale and his legacy and contributions to the Malawi music will be celebrated.
