United Nations (UN) women in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Social Welfare and Children’s Affairs are calling for girls and women from Dedza who are willing to serve as role models for the district.

According to Dedza South East Constituency Juliana Lunguzi the call has been made due to poor indicators in education completion in the district.

“This call has been prompted by poor indicators in education completion in the district. The call is open to all who feel are able serve as role models.

“All you have to do is submit your name, mobile number,  email address, occupation and education if you want – you do not need to have a college degree and you will be up for consideration,” reads part of the statement posted on her website.

The statement further reads that applications are welcome from any profession saying,” as long as you’re a role model, someone, our girls can emulate. Let us all join hands and support the girl child.”

Lunguzi then last made a call to all those who feel they are role models to come in and support the girl child in Dedza.

“Allow me to finish with a quote that says a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.”
