University of Malawi to launch flag, anthem during golden jubilee
University of Malawi (UNIMA) will launch its flag and anthem during the celebrations marking 50 years of existence October 10, 2015 be held at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
This has been disclosed by UNIMA’s assistant registrar (Communication and Marketing), Peter Mitunda.
Mitunda said in a statement made available to Nyasa Times that five parades by cohorts of graduates streamlined by a period of a decade from 1965, will march to the tune of the Malawi Police Service and Malawi Defence Force brass bands from the Blantyre Civic Centre to Kamuzu Stadium.
He said activities at the stadium will include conferment of honorary degrees, floats of scholarly exhibitions by students and lecturers as well as floats of UNIMA alumni symbolizing collaboration with society.
“A documentary cataloguing the life journey of the University of Malawi in its 50 years of existence; Netball and football matches between UNIMA veterans and current students, and launching of the UNIMA flag and Unima anthem,” the statement reads/
To curtain-raise the climax of the celebrations, Mitunda said an International Conference and Gala Ball will take place at Hotel Victoria from September 24 to 25.
According to Mitunda, a Thought Leadership Dialogue will be held at Chancellor College from September 30 to October 1.

I wish they could come up with a book containing names of all those who passed through UNIMA. The book could be sold at a profit. While it is true that standards have gone down at UNIMA mainly due to quota system and pallarell programmes, the fact still remains that UNIMA is still better than the so called Private Universities. I know that those talking ill of UNIMA are students or graduates of there University equivalents and they are saying that because of inferiority complex. They r very lazy,coz feels dey r more graduated than a veteran experienced civil servant or those who have served more than them , what they will z to choose who to work wth n say d remaining staff z incopetent, azifa choncho mmaofficemu, all what they want r allowances but not being productive,graduate my foot ,go into districts govt deptment dey r dying coz of cry of seniority
If you want you can put a picture of Bakali Muluzi or his son Atupele Muluzi ? It’s in order to put a picture of Chakwera than Bingu , Peter , JB , Khumbo , Tembo etc .
