Since Malawi Telecommunications Limited pulled out its sponsorship on the netball team, they have been depending on well wishers for help.

Vanguard Life managing director, Noah Mupfurutsa said they thought of helping Thunder Queens after being approached by the Blantyre based team.

Mupfurutsa also said their company is celebrating 15 years of doing business in Malawi and said they thought it wise to celebrate with the nation hence the donation.

He said they feel proud to be associated with netball, and went on to stress that the donation will go towards buying Thunder Queens uniform.

Thunder Queens captain Joana Kachilika, who received the money on behalf of her colleagues hailed Vanguard for their support and urged other companies to follow suit.

Kachilika said their team is struggling to source funds to run the club and urged well wishers to rescue them.

She said they have tight fixtures ahead which will require them to have enough funds.
