Village headman arrested for chopping man’s private parts – Malawi Police
Malawi Police in Mzimba have arrested Group Village Headman Moses Shaba 40, of T/A Mabulabo for allegedly chopping private parts of a 44 year old Greyward Mseteka of Chimbalala Village , in the area of Traditional Authority Mabulabo , Monday night .
According northern region police spokesman, Maurice Chapola, the victim who is currently battling for his life at Mzimba District hospital, on the eve of the material day went with the suspect and his accomplice currently on the run, to a drinking spree in the same area where they spent some hours soothing their thorax win beer
“Later on, they reportedly left the pub and went to the house of the second suspect where they had agreed to spend a night. It all started there with the suspects manhandling the victim. One of the suspects reportedly beat the victim with a wooden stick resulting to the unconscious of the victim. The two went ahead to cut off his private parts using a sharp knife before setting the house ablaze,” police said in a media statement.
Mother to the second suspect who stays near the scene of crime reportedly noted smoke accompanied by huge flames. She alerted the villagers who rushed to the house and managed to rescue the victim who was lying in agony in a pool of blood at the bedroom.
He narrated the whole ordeal of his fate.
The victim was hospitalized at the district hospital that very same night.
The police and members of the community went on a search for the suspects and managed to apprehend the first suspect while investigations are still underway to truck down his accomplice.
Police said the suspect has been charged with an offence of grievous harm which infringes section 238 of the penal code . He will appear before the court.
Mzimba District Hospital public relations officer Raymond Kawayi confirmed admission of Mseteka at the hospital adding his condition was improving.
