After raising K28m, beating the planned target of K22m, Beyond You – brains behind the initiative- on Wednesday unveiled a state-of-the-art unit with modern facilities of international standards.

Opening the new unit, Mary Chilima, wife to the Vice President hailed Beyond You for the new facility, describing them as heroes and true patriots.

“You saw a need to help and hatched an idea on how to make a contribution. You walked all the way to Blantyre and the end result is this beautiful Pediatric ward that we are seeing. I salute you. You are extraordinary young people,” Chilima said.

The veep’s wife then urged other young people to show responsibility by making a difference in their communities through various available means.

“You used social media to spread your good cause. You used it to come up with something positive we are seeing today. We can all make a small contribution to our country in any way that we can,” she said.

On her part, Duwa Mvula founder of Beyond You thanked organisations and individuals that supported their cause.

Mvula also paid special tribute to the wife of the Vice President for encouraging the team to keep on walking from the first day when she saw them off at KCH and on return at Golf Club.

“This is why we invited you to open the facility. You have been an inspiration to us,” Mvula said.

Hospital authorities welcomed and described the 10 bed new unit as timely and that it will go along way in saving lives of children.
