Wanderers aim to reclaim top spot against Mzuni: Malawi TNM Super League

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers will be looking forward to reclaim the top spot when they face Mzuni FC away in Mzuzu on Sunday 27th August 2017 as the battle to finish top spot in the first round reaches a boiling point.

Madeira: Nomads want to reclaim top spot

Silvers strikers moved to the top position after beating city rivals Civil Sporting Club 2-1 in a an incredible and thrilling Lilongwe
derby of recent times played at the Civo Stadium.

The Nomads last result was a convincing 5-1 demolition of Mzuzu based soldiers Moyale Barracks in a mid-week Super League match played at the Balaka Stadium last Wednesday.

Wanderers Team Manager Steven Madeira said they are prepared to stop Mzuni, a team they failed to beat both in the first and second round last season.

Mzuni shocked Wanderers with a 4-2 defeat at the Kamuzu Stadium in the first round before holding the Carlsberg Cup reigning champions 1-1 at the Mzuzu Stadium in the second round.

“We have been preparing well for them [Mzuni] and if you may recall we failed to beat them on two occasions last season so our aim this time is to beat them so that we return the top spot we were holding in the league,” said Madeira.

Madeira said despite their 4-2 loss against Mozambican top league side Quelimane City in an international friendly to mark 75th Anniversary celebrations for the City assisted them to rebuild their team further.

Silver Strikers are on first position of the 16 member log table with 32 points while Wanderers are on second with 31 points but the Lali Lubani boys have a game in hand.

So far, Wanderers is the only team that has registered more wins in the first round.

They have won 10 games drawn twice and lost two games.

Their contenders Silver have registered nine wins, five draws and are yet to taste a defeat.
