Wanderers, BB in semifinal rehearsals against Moyale and Reds: Malawi TNM Super League

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets will engage themselves in what can be described as rehearsals ahead of the two
side’s Carlsberg Cup semifinal matches.

Mike Kumanga: Red Lions coach says both games crucial

The two Blantyre based soccer power houses were on Sunday drawn against military sides Moyale Barracks and Red Lions in Carlsberg Cup semifinal draw conducted at Balaka Stadium during half time of the quarterfinal match between Bullets and Cobbe Barracks.

Coincedentally, the pairs are facing each other again in the league.

Wanderers will face Moyale Barracks in a league match at Balaka Stadium while Bullets welcome Red Lions at the Chilomoni Stadium on
the same day.

The same fixture is to be fulfilled again during the weekend of 26th and 27th August 2017 but this time around in a different
competition-Carlsberg Cup.

Officials from all the four clubs have described the fixtures as ‘crucial but tricky’.

Red Lions Coach Mike Kumanga said all assignments are vital.

“As Red Lions, we are weighing the fixtures equally because we want to do well in the league and fight for chaampionship as well as winning the cup,” said Kumanga.

“I have confidence and trust in my boys and I am sure they will deliver,” he added.

Team Manager for Wanderers Steven Madeira admitted their Wednesday league meeting against the Mzuzu based Soldiers will have an impact in their semifinal meeting but expressed confidence his boys are ready for the showdown.

“Ofcourse the Wednesday league fixture will have an impact on the semifinal but just like any other team, we are equally eyeing both the
league and the cup. We are an experienced side and we will handle the situation with maturity,” said Madeira who at the beginning of the
season revealed their main objective this season is to win the league.

On his part, Elia Kananji side he will take each game as it comes.

“We are in top form and we are treating each game as it comes. Both games are important and we are treating them with all seriousness”
said Kananji.

Mighty Wanderers are currently on second position with 28 points one behind leaders Silver Strikers who dislodged them over the weekend after registering two consecutive victories.

Moyale Barracks and Nyasa Big Bullets are on fourth and fifth positions respectively with 22 and 21 points respectively while Red
Lions are on position seven with 19 points.

Blantyre United, Dwangwa United and Chitipa Unied are at the bottom with 11 points each and have since already finished their first round games.
