Wanderers bounce back from Moyale draw with win over Kamuzu Barracks
Mighty Wanderers returned to winning form in the FDH Bank Premiership on Sunday, beating Kamuzu Barracks 2-0 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

The Nomads had been held to a draw by Moyale Barracks the previous week and were eager to bounce back. Kamuzu Barracks pressed high and created several opportunities of their own, but were unable to convert their pressure into goals.
Wanderers proved more clinical.
Sama Thierry opened the scoring before captain Emmanuel Nyirenda doubled the lead, sending the Nomads in 2-0 at half-time.
The second half produced further chances at both ends, but the scoreline held.
Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira acknowledged the difficulty of facing military-backed sides but credited his players’ resilience.
“The good thing is we have depth in our squad and we are able to rotate them to run away from fatigue, so we are better off,” Mpinganjira said, while conceding his side needed greater consistency to remain in contention for honours this season.
Kamuzu Barracks coach Kenwood Nkhoma admitted his team had fallen short of the required standard, saying they had failed to execute their system of play effectively.
He said the team would return to the drawing board but vowed to keep fighting until the season’s end.
Elsewhere, Civo Service United ended a run of seven consecutive defeats with a 2-1 win away to Blue Eagles, lifting them to 11th in the table with 14 points from 13 matches.
Assistant coach Emmanuel Zowoya praised his players’ effort and thanked supporters for their patience.
“We are playing as a team. The games we lost are part of football.
“Blue Eagles is a big team in the elite league, but I should thank my players for putting much effort to secure maximum points and also give special thanks to the supporters for their patience,” Zowoya said, adding that the result should provide both a lesson and momentum going forward.
In the rest of Week 13’s fixtures, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets edged Karonga United 1-0 away from home, while Dedza Dynamos and Creck Sporting Club drew 1-1 at Dedza Stadium.
