The Junior nomads gave their elders tough time as they showcase some stiff resistance that forced the game to end in a 0-0 stalemate in the first 45 minutes.

Come second half, the senior team made several changes bringing in Genki Nakamula, Khumbo Ng’ambi for Alfred Manyozo and Jaffali Chande but it was the same first half pace.

A sigh of relief on the senior Nomads bench came in the 50th minute when Peter Wadabwa rose high to head in an Isaac Kaliati’s cross before the ball kissed the net.

Wanderers head coach Edington Ng’onamo admitted their younger brothers gave them a tough time.

His opposite number Albert Mpinganjira said despite the loss, he was impressed with the perfomance of his boys.

He further said the boys showed some lack of experience as they were not composed enough upfront so that they get a goal.

But he said the boys have learnt alot and that the perfomance of the team will improve in their next games with the lessons they have learnt.

With the win, the Nomads have set up an interesting crash as they have to beat Kamuzu Barracks who stands on their way if they are to progress to the quarterfinals stage.

K.B beat Nsundwe United 7-0 to reach the round of 16 and their coach Billy Phambala pledged to win the cup inorder to repeat the history the team made in 2013 when without given any chance, went on to win the trophy after beating Moyale Barracks 1-0 at the Mzuzu Stadium courtesy of a Harvey Nkacha loan strike.

However, all roads in the Capital City will today (Wednesday) lead to Area 47 where Silver Strikers welcome their city rivals Civo United in what promises to be one of the most exciting but heart breaking as well as cracking round of 32 fixture.

The Bankers will be looking forward to recover from their 1-2 league game loss against defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets while  Civo who havent been consistent enough this season are coming from a draw.

At the Kamuzu Stadium, Nyasa Big Bullets welcome central region premier division side Master Security while at the Mzuzu Stadium, it will be Moyale Barracks up against Karonga United.

Warm Heart Bullets will face Mzuni FC at the Nankhaka hround while Wizards FC face Blue Eagles FC in another tricky fixture.

The Eagles will be looking forward to maintain their fine form after beating Carlsberg Cup defending champions Mighty Be Forward Wanderers 2-1 last Saturday in a league match.

Meanwhile, some of the teams that already made it into the round of 16 are Azam Tigers, Mafco, Zomba United, Mzuzu United and Zolozolo FC.
