We’re not aliens, we’re Malawians – Opposition MP makes a point of order
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Member of Parliament for Dedza North West, Alekeni Menyani was forced to make a point of order in parliament that opposition members were equally Malawians who pay tax like those in the corridors of ruling power.
Menyani stood for a point of order after ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) MP for Chitipa Central, Clement Mukumbwa, when he said President Peter Mutharika does not see where somebody is coming from when distributing development “even though they are Members of the opposition who are very vocal and sometimes very personal, he still develops their areas.”
The MCP legislature said it was out order for Mukumbwa to refer the opposition “as if we were alien to this country.”
He said: “We also pay taxes. Our children and sisters also pay taxes.”
Menyani added: “ We are Malawians and first and foremost, before you look at us as belonging to the opposition, look at us as fellow Malawians. “
There is very serious political obsession in Malawi. So much so that an MP becomes a fool of the political party president. Why should Mkumbwa still tout the president as the DPP president this far of the year when the president should be for the Malawi Nation and be that way. If Chitipa is in Malawi it should be treated in the same way as Thyolo and any other place in Malawi. Development should be based on National Policy NOT Regional or Party Policy.
It is NOT a favour to develop Chitipa!!!!!!!! I think some MPs are useless!
We fukumela Mkumbwa utukoshite soni twebinako baku Chitipa.Uyobeghe ifitu fya mahala. This low life Fukumera do not represent all the people from chitipa but that is his distorted view at looking of things. He is just a mere contractor erecting some sub standard structures in Chitipa. What a Dpp bootlicker.
Mkumbwa mbuchindele uwu mkuchita. You are are one of the stupid politicians in the north. We hate you.
Mr Menyai u touched my heart, regardless the region u come from we r malawians and we all deserve the better service frm our goverment. I wish all ppl cld be like u Sir malawi cld have a better place to live. Atumbuka that, alomwe that, achewa that, it won’t help us nothing we r all malawians. This munkhumbwa mp I don’t what was he thinking it seems he doesn’t have a sense of human at all like others here who r hallasing other just bcause they were born to a good region, choosing others like anmals lol.
Gentlemen, I feel aggrieved when I hear and read the sentiments uttered by Hon Mkumbwa, as a bonafide son of Cp ,I really feel ashamed for a person of his caribber to stoop so low and be praising DPP when in actual sense we children of CP are not seeing any development agendas in this budget for 2015/16 f/yr. Be elected as a member of parliament does not mean giving praises where they are not due as is the case. This party doesn’t like us at all not how far we may support it so long we are northerners nothing… Read more »
Do you know the meaning Mkumbwa? is idiot. take note ‘kutukwanisa anthu osalakwa.
It is a FACT that Bingu and the DPP are the ones who clearly started sharing development across all regions. Developments such as Silos, Universities, etc.. go where they are needed, not where there is more political party supporters.
You can deny it all you want.
Can all the educated people from Chitipa do me a favour. Take this Mukumbwa buffoon back to Class 1 so that he can learn to think rationally, and stop to think like an idiot, though he seems to one.
Mkumbwa still living in the past. Even after walking by foot all the way from Chitipa to Rumphi-Livingstonia, Karonga-Chaminade the thinking and reasoning is still primitive!!! sha!
The MP For the semi district of CP must be a fool. What development is he talking about? CP No market, no bus dept, ma bus amagona mphanda wa Beer Hall and he calls that development. Shame. No water at the boma. Kumamwa madzi a muzithapwi when chitipa is endowed with alot of natural waters. No pipes It is really bad.
