‘I will win for Malawi, but please keep voting’: Zani Challe speaks on Afrimma 2017 nomination

Malawian-born, but South Africa based musician and actor Zani Challe, real name Michelle Chiumia, says she confident of winning the ‘Best New Comer’ Afrimma 2017 music award this October 8 at the House of Blues in Dallas, US.

Zani Challe: Appeals for votes
 The Single Tonight hitmaker, which features Nigeria’s sensation Patoranking, is nominated in a category which she will compete for votes against Dremo, Maleek Berry, Niniola from Nigeria, Medikal, Julz from Ghana, Ray Vanny out of Tanzania, Preto Show from Angola, Mr Leo from Cameroon and Nathi from South Africa.
Born to Malawian parents in Cape Town, Zani says her win will be a win for Malawi because her music represents the cultural richness and diversity of Malawian people.
Touted as the biggest African music event in the Diaspora, the show, this year, hosts an impressive calibre of potential winners, including Wizkid, Tekno, Mr Eazi, Davido, Runtown, Ray Vanny, Fally Ipupa, Flavour and other acts on the continent who have all earned the nomination gongs for the year in review.
The event is being organised by Big A Entertainment and has 27 categories with the inclusion of two new categories: Best Lusophone artist and Best Francophone artist.
Afrimma’s official website says “the sole purpose is to cross musical boundaries and celebrate the top African acts and the contributions they have made in relation to African culture and music”.
And Zani Challe is appealing for votes at www.afrimma.com .
