Wizards seek winning momentum

Wizards FC and Red Lions will face off in the TNM Super League in a match at to be played at the Zomba Community Centre Ground on Saturday.

Peter Mponda: Winning momentum

The Peter Mponda boys are fresh from their 4-0 victory against Chitipa United in their previous league encounter last weekend.

Wizards are still sitting at the top of the league standings with 4 points from 2 matches.

Wizards Coach Peter Mponda says they need to forget about their recent victory and keep grinding for more results.

“We’ve got to keep going; there’s nothing we can do about it now – it’s gone,” Mponda said.

Mponda also said they are targeting maximum points against Red Lions, but was quick to stress that it will be a tough game.

Wizard’s opponent, Red Lions, stunned Blantyre United 4-0 in their first league game at the Zomba Community Ground.

The old capital city based sides are placed third on the league table with 3 points from a single game.

Red Lions Coach, Prichard Mwansa was also optimistic of a positive result come Saturday.

“We still have to play our usual game and make sure we win and see where the results lead us. Because, all we want is to be on top this weekend,” he said.

When Wizards and Red Lions met last season on the same venue, it was disaster for the soldiers as they were stunned by the Wizards.
