A 50 years old Tissie Kabichi died in her sleep Friday last week at Liwonde Township in Machinga and was discovered Sunday morning around 11 o’clock morning in a decomposed state, Police in Machinga confirmed the death.
Kabichi was working as Senior Typist at Machinga Agricultural Development Division and was staying alone without a dependent at Mawira residential area in the township.
Friends who were with her in a food subcommittee for a wedding were looking for her the whole Saturday to no avail, according to Machinga Police public relations officer, Martin Tione.
Kabichi was in the food committee for a wedding of a couple in Liwonde township and the event was scheduled for Saturday such that fellow food committee members committee were worried for her whereabouts because she was keeping cash for food.
The publicist added that wedding organizing team mates and neighbors sensed a bad smell and discovered flies hanging on the windows of the deceased bedroom.
Tione said Kabichi’s body was decomposed such that the Machinga District Hospital recommended that the body be laid to rest at a cemetery at Liwonde Township as opposed to travelling to the deceased’s home at Mbamba village at Traditional Authority Fukamapiri’s area, Nkhatabay.
She was laid to rest around 7 o’clock in the evening.
Kabichi’s daughter works at Machinga District Hospital as Health Surveillance Assistant but stays at a distance from her deceased mother.
