Woman murders newly born baby

Police in Mzimba have arrested a 21-year-old woman in Mzimba for killing her newly born child with a hoe handle.
Northern Region Police Spokesperson Nora Chimwala said the suspected woman Mary Mvula hit her child immediately after giving birth at home.
“She is suspected of killing her newly born child by hitting her in the head with a hoe handle soon after she delivered,” said the Police Spokesperson.
Chimwala further said after killing the child, the suspect took it and buried it behind her house.
She was arrested after some members from within the neighborhood reported the matter to police and she is expected to appear before the court to answer charges if murder.
